SLYK- EVEN THE GIRLS DONT KNOW 45

(SLYKSONGS 1983)

Thanks again to Collin for this one!

Even the Girls Don't Know
Rock n Roll Your Bones

Nifty, little private powerpop single form the more commercial- leaning end of the genre. Slyk ( pronounced 'Slick' was the vehicle for Providence RI singer-songwriter and present day guitar tech, Bob Lavalley (name brand axe enthusiasts take note: Lavalley was the brains behind Brian May's first signature series). Thought not included on either two volumes of the local Providence THE LIVING ROOM compilations, 'EVEN THE GIRLS DON'T KNOW' fits in well with the non-threatening, new wave pop style of fellow scene contemporaries the Probers or Ed Tabela. Pressed at PRI Recordings in Wyandanch, NY, this was Slyk's only vinyl release ( never issued with a picture sleeve). Footage of the band performing both sides of their single on a local cable access program from 1984 can be found on Youtube.
